Here I'm just quickly going to list my hardware and how I've found them to be - I reckon there are better qualified people (like Solo) to write decent, full detail reviews on stuff. Just thought this would be good info for guys looking to purchase hardware:

Sempron 3100+
This chip is pretty darn decent and overclocks well. It's got 256kb of L2 cache and this doesn't hurt performance all that much on the AMD chips. For games, it really is good value for money - especially when you overclock. With a multiplyer of 9x you can get some good OC's off it. I got as high as 2.42GHz on air, with my ram limiting. RECOMMENDED

Coolermaster Hyper6
Well, this thing is BIG. Almost 1kg of pure copper. It really cools well, although it needs decent airflow to do this. Makes sure airflow though case is good and you got good strong mobo to be able to take the torque this thing generates. Mounting clips also an issue. Not for LAN gamers that travel alot.

Chaintech VNF-250
I simply LOVE this mobo. I could get my fsb as high as 302 stable, and I think my ram started limiting me. If you are going for high OC's on the 754 Socket, it's either this one, or the DFI UT 250Gb which is about R200 more. RECOMMENDED

1Gb Transcend DDR400 RAM (2.5/3/3/8)
At the time I bought it (before ram prices dropped drastically) it was the best value ram I could get. It does what it says on the box, but not a whole lot more. Not for overclockers, but comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Sapphire X800XT Platinum Edition
I love ATI. I had an 9800Pro, the 6800nu (unlocked&overclocked), now I have an X800XT Platinum Edition, and quite glad be be rejoining the ATI camp. Sapphire is known to make good products, and this is no exception. Comes with games bundle, and all the cables you could think of. Have not tried overclocking really, but I don't think there is TOO much headroom, since this IS the PLATINUM EDITION ! Have to mention that they carry quite a hefty price tag, but if you want the best AGP card money can buy, well...THIS IS IT !! RECOMMENDED

KME 500W PSU
Very good buy for me - I got it when purchasing my 6800nu, and it's proved to be VERY STABLE on all it's rails. Really chaffed with it, because it was the cheapest (R300) 500W PSU I could get at the time. Provides alot (can't remember exactly) of amps on the 12V line, which is important for 754/939 setups, especially if you are getting high end graphics card. Got a nice coppery shine to it, and a switch at the back that kind of reminds me of a kettle !! RECOMMENDED

Logitech MX510
Great gaming mouse !! I tossed the AOpen mouse (crap) I got with my case, and got this one. It's got a very nice feel to it and some extra programmable buttons on it - I especially like it to RELOAD in CS using these !! If your thinking wireless on your next upgrade, remember that these tend to have slight delays. So if you're into FPS and next quick responses and high accuracy, don't pass up on this mouse. RECOMMENDED

AOPEN Case (comes with 2 speakers, optical mouse, KB and PSU)
All I can say is that, although this offers a cheap all-in-one solution, this is by NO MEANS for anyone THINKING of upgrading his rig from time to time. The KB is crap (sticky spacebar), the mouse is crap (tossed it), the psu is crap (low amps on 12V rail - tossed it) and did I say the speakers are crap ?? (tossed it). So I'm basically only using the case (modded) and the keyboard (for lack of not having another now). Case is quite small and cramped, and you will HAVE to mod it if you are interested in getting decent airflow - it's got zero fans. Buy this combo only if you're VERY strapped for cash - as I'm sure you'll regret it pretty soon. NOT RECOMMENDED

Turando 4.1 speaker set (SR-301B)
I doubt that you will still find these on the market. I've had these since forever and I love them !! Great value at the time (I'm talking R300 odd bucks 7 years ago!!) and they've never given me any problems - clear as a bell. RECOMMENDED

MECER 21" screen
People (myself included) frown upon Mecer products sometimes, because it's a South African brand. Let me tell you about THIS beauty: It does 1600x1200 @ 85Hz refresh rate !! Amazing stuff. Picture is perfectly clear.I'd rather go with the trusted CRT technology at this time, than spending big bucks on an LCD not knowing how my gaming will be with the reported reponse time..) I'm now watching TV in my computer, 'cause the screen is bigger !! Trust me - once you've gone to 21", there's NO going back. And in terms of space consumption (for all you LCD-freaks), it does not take up much more space than my 19" Viewsonic (also very good). It is quite heavy, though ("in this corner, wearing red trunks and weighing in at 21kg..") so it's DEFINITELY not for LAN parties !! As far as I'm concerned, the weight does not bother me, as I'm not planning on moving it soon - It's staying right there on the desk !! RECOMMENDED

That's it for now, please post some system details, so myself and others may know what to get when replacing/upgrading crappy parts of our systems !! biggrin.gif

Hi I have the same speaker set as you do (Turando sr-301B) and I have lost the power adapter to it. I was wondering if you could inform me of the voltage and amps needed for a new adapter since it is not written anywhere on the speakers or box itself.
I haven't been able to use these speakers for at least a year now and any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Hi itsmedom

this post has been dormant for the last year and the user is no longer on this forum... try checking on the inet for information regarding your speakers usually the manufacturer's site should have info regarding the power voltages
